Bug in forum itself

Until this post I have only posted in the Hardware section, and all in a single topic.  And I saw my posts showing up OK until just a short while ago.  Now what I see are my posts showing up doubled.  Every post appears twice in a row.  Yet the count of posts I have made does not account for that doubling.  So it appears to be something wrong in the database or in the PunBB code that outputs that section.  I don't see other people's posts duplicated, so I think more likely it is a database glitch.

I know I didn't double post because I saw the posts I made through the first 5 (out of 6).  In particular, I made a post with 2 pictures of a pano I made, and followed that up with another posts with an added commentary about it.  Then I made another and remember seeing 3 posts together.  I'd have noticed a doubling of that short commentary post, and that was not there when I looked earlier.

Also, the topic cuts off.  Posts have been made since the last one visible, but they can't be seen.  There is no link to a "page 2" or anything.  I know GURL has made a post since then that is also not visible.  And I did as well earlier today.

I connected from a different browser, with a different cache, and not logged in.  The same topic shows the same doubling of my posts.  Posts by others are not doubled.  So it's not something about being logged in getting your own posts doubled.

I wonder if this one will be doubled as well.

Here is a screen shot in case others are not seeing the doubling.

Re: Bug in forum itself

This kind of posts duplication happens to me at about one occasion every year: my own post in some thread are duplicated. The first time I saw that, I deleted a post and the two identical occurences of said post disappeared. Now I do nothing and on the next day everything is OK...
--

Re: Bug in forum itself

The duplication did go away a while after I posted this report here.  But today, it came back.  And it is duplicating all my posts in this area, too.

What is most annoying about it is that the web page production code cuts off the posts after a certain number of them, and it is counting the duplicates individually (e.g. 1 post counted as 2 displayed).  But once the limit is reached, it does not indicate there are additional pages.  I assume the existence of additional pages is recorded in the database, or at least the number of posts from which it can be calculated.  The database presumably records that the topic "Best lens for APP to work with?" has not enough posts to reach page 2.  But when displayed, the duplicates prevent all the posts from being displayed on page 1.  What this means is I cannot see the replies to my posts.

I wonder if this is a result of some database maintenance program doing refreshes and resynchronizing, but that it hasn't completed the job, yet.

But why mine?  When I use a different browser and access without being logged in, and thus with no association to me, specifically, only my own posts are being duplicated there.  If a maintenance program were juggling the database and this resulted in duplicates appearing during the update, why would it affect only my posts and not those of other users?

When it affects them, it affects all of my posts.  Very strange.  I am a programmer, so I visualize what might be going on inside these programs.  But this one has me confused.

Re: Bug in forum itself

I found an issue in the database with your userid. Fixed something. Perhaps it will solve this issue.
