I would still like to know what the "duration of the contract is". Not sure if I am the only one who read the contract terms, I know many people don't care - I know that I don't pretty much care either - but I like to at least *understand* what I am signing up for. Since posting in the other thread didn't yield any replies, I'll try it here ![]()

The duration of the contract ... good point. In fact, if the book is a great success we have the idea of making such a book each year. So the duration is in fact the timelaps during which the book is available ( it's written in the contract and it express that, even if the way it's written is not really clear in fact. We had to follow French law rules here ). So the duration is the lifetime of the availability of the book.

Another point. The rights : you concede rights on images for this book or for promotion of this book and only and those only 2 cases. Some people didn't read accurately the contract and it doesn't allow us to use your pictures for any other stuff than the "book" or "book promotion".

Are these rights exclusive? Or is it still possible to use the photos for other usages (even commercial)?

Not exclusive of course ![]()

Hi Alexandre,
I print my works in limited editions only. If I participate in the project, would this mean that my image could be printed (besides the book itself) by Kolor?
I am just concerned that this would break integrity of limited edition.
Offline
No, Kolor has only 2 rights : to create the book with your picture or use some pictures to make advertisements for the book ( I would found that really hard to make a leaflet for the panorama book without having the right to use some pictures to illustrate that ). Beside that, we don't have any right. We cannot for example make any print of any pictures.

Thanks for clarification, Alexandre.
After reading the contract I was under impression that images can be printed for the exhibitions/etc.
I could colloborate with you on that by I would need a very controlled environment, to have a full track on what is printed.

Hi Alexandre,
I'm attempting to upload an image for inclusion in the book. However, there doesn't appear to be any progress on this. The upload window is reading 0.2 of 49.6 Mbytes since I clicked the upload button about 15-20 minutes ago.
Also, I'm thinking that 50 Mo is 50Mb, but not sure. The technical guidelines for size limits and filesizes are not specifically listed. Other than..
Upload rules:
- Allowed file formats : JPG, TIFF, PNG
- Maximum size: 50 Mo
Okay, now there's been some change, as the upload window has changed to http://www.autopano.net/panobook/my-pictures.html. Should I be able to see a preview of the image I uploaded? As things are at the moment, it says 'Image preview in progress', but there is no preview.
Thank you
Damo

The image preview takes usually a few minutes to generate. You simply reload the page in a few minutes and should see the preview.

Yesterday i loaded up some pictures - there isn´t any preview still. Does that mean the upload failed?

There is a small issue with the image previews, but if you can see the image name/location, then your image has been correctly uploaded.
Thanks for your contributions,
Rami

Thank you, Rami. I've refreshed the page, but it still hasn't appeared, so this information is very welcome!

Salut,
si on n'a pas possibilité d'uploader à partir de ce soir, on peut au moins modifier nos notes, je n'ai pas tout rempli les champs...

What is the size of the book and how many pages?
I mean how many panos can be placed on a single page, so what is the best aspect ratio.
I guess that panos on 1 by 4 ratio are going to be very small!

What kind of informations do you want? Technical? Artistic?

).

Alexandre gave information on that : book is based on A4 size in landscape mode (28.7cm x 20cm because of printing marges), but some pictures may be spread on 2 or 3 pages in the width that will be folded. The total pages in the book may be between 150 and 200 pages.

'how many panos in a page' will be the result of Kolor paging choice. When you mention 'panos on 1 by 4 ratio', I understand 'vertical pano'. I don't see any problem for Kolor to put 2 vertical panos on a double page, panos oriented to fill up the latter.
Thanks Beeloba, I've uploaded a vertical pano. I hope you have too and we may see our panos side by side ![]()

We'll close the interface today. So hurry up !

Alex,
is it possible to continue writing comments, after today?
Thank you!

No, everything will be closed this evening. Some details about how we will proceed :
- Tomorrow, I will wrote some script to help us to make the editing ( choosing images ). Our estimation is to keep around 400 images. Due to the success of the panobook, it will be 1 image per use but some user will probably have 2 images.
- Everything will be checked by us in the next 2 days before sending everything to the guy that will make the book. We'll have 2, 3 pages done to check the layout, text, etc.
- Have the 180, 200 pages layout done for end of September.
- October is reserved for finishing layout and printing.
- November on our website for ordering and shipping.

Hi Alexandre,
Do you have any estimates on what the cost will be? I know it won't be a definitive answer, but just an idea would be great.
Thank you
