Rules for this forum

Hi everybody,

I decided to go with a special sub-forum for the release of app 2 version because I feel that there will be more talk that just bug report for app 2. So here's a full session for that.

ALPHA 1 advice :

- I will post later this day a huge topic about how alpha was done. It explains a lot of stuff inside. The consequence is that you won't need to post bug report of many area of the software but only some part.

- the only relevant area of bug report are :
* everything related to detection
* everything related to settings ( exception : optimization setting, rendering setting )
* cache
* new features ( motorized panorama head support, stacks, flash export, etc )
Bug report topic title should be "[version] issue", for example "[190 Alpha 1] canon 40D raw detection".
Yes, alpha 1 is named "190 alpha 1". We'll use this naming 191 alpha 2, 192 alpha 3, 194 beta 1, etc. It won't say that there will 10 releases before final !

- if you want to discuss about the design of some feature for example plugin. Use such convention for the name of the topic about a feature design ( it's not a bug report, ok, it's about the design ). "[ design ] feature ", for example : "[ design ] Motorized panorama head support"

Re: Rules for this forum

A bit offtopic, but could you explain the alpha/beta naming scheme? Seems complicated. Why not just use "pre1", "pre2", etc? This way you can have unlimited numbers of prereleases and not confuse people with alphas, betas, RCs...

Some of my panoramas, posted in the Autopano Pro flickr group.

Re: Rules for this forum

Yes, you are right [bo].

Here's the explanation :
* ALPHA means "work in progress". Features are being added but not all features are present yet
* BETA means "debug in progress". Every feature have being done, but not debugged
* RC means "release candidate". When reaching some stage of stability, we release RC's until nothing serious bug is found anymore.
* RELEASE : final one, the goal !

We have planned 3 ALPHAs, first one today.
