There used to be a company that advertised on TV that "We will sell no wine before its time".
It's also a good policy to release no software before its time.

A large part of this forum is aimed at discussing whether or not "c'est le moment de mettre le vin en bouteille et de le vendre" (to bottle the wine and sell it ;>)

A lot of people are not software developers, and don't know the difference between alpha, beta and production (or release) code.
I've always used:
Unit test -- test of each feature by the developer
System test -- test of the overall system by all the developers
QA test -- test by a different set of engineers than the developers, but still in-house.
Alpha test -- first test of code on a live system, generally in-house but sometimes at a very friendly customer.
Beta test -- live test at selected customers. Generally, customers have to recognize that code may have bugs and may not function at all before they receive it.
First release (x.0) sometimes buggy
So I applaud Alexandre for trying to get all known bugs out of APP before release, but I suggest that the alpha could be a limited release to two or three friendly guys who have fisheye lenses even though there are some know bugs. (unfortunately, I don't have a fisheye lens yet
) This will get the easy-to-find bugs out before the beta, which may be a more general release.

In fact, it's not really the fisheye feature that takes a long time to finalize because this one is done, it's the new UI that needs to recheck many part of the software that were stable before and could have been affected by this major change.

Well, I suppose that's enough for now. You've got the release date straight from Alexandre, so let's close this topic.
