Kolor goes to SIGGRAPH 2007, San Diego

Hi,

This is a message to californian users. We will be next week at SIGGRAPH 2007 in San Diego.
If some people are willing to meet us, we could surely find a pub to that there smile
Just email to me, we can surely find some common date ( 7, 8, or 9 august ).

Well, that's good news, but I'm afraid you're not going to like the state of things here smile 1.4 A3 opened plenty of regressions and problems (1.3 A2 is currently considered more stable and usable) and over 80 bugs reported... I haven't kept track of any of them, as you were away and there's no status set on most of them.

If you plan to release quickly another alpha, I'll suggest doing it before taking on with the bugs. If not, a short update note is in order and then we can start working down the Bugs forum.

Oh, and... Welcome back!!! big_smile

Yes, regression issues were excepted here. As I said, I rewrote a big part of the editor engine ( not really the engine, but every connection between UI and the engine ). This was needed to clear every crash without any explanation that had been reported by the splat tool. In fact, since 1.4A3, there are less reported crashs and all of them are true crash ( with an identified cause ). That's far better for us. I have no plan to release quickly another alpha, I want to make a good pass on bug report before.

Bonjour Alexandre, Welcome back,

I agree with your plan to check any bug reports here before releasing a new alpha. At least for standard lens, you put good final 1-3-0 and 1-3-1 alpha.

Bon courage.

Hi Alexandre…
We understand the solution you have chosen to fix previous crash bugs, is clever…

Why don't you tell us that you developed a new strategy, for which you were expecting less crashes…
Please… Don't forget that old users can understand what you are trying to do.
How can we help, if you don't trust us?

Didn't I ? I think I had. Sorry, my fault.

BTW : some people already confirmed that this strategy is good. I just need to fix regression and real bugs now.

EDITED : It's written ...

Version History

The engine behind the panorama editor has been totally changed. It's should be far more stable and it will allow to make a great improvement in speed in this area now. You can already see that in action with the level tool ( far quicker now ). Perhaps, this big change could have broke some features, but we checked them all.

Re: Kolor goes to SIGGRAPH 2007, San Diego

We were expecting a better working app for stitching and color correcting.
Explaining that this version was fixing crashes, but not stitching and color correcting issues, would have been more fair instead of saying nothing.

I'm trying a new set with a fisheye lens, and I and some users who wrote me, where becoming very doubtful on our tests and self confidence during the last fortnight.
